Over 75 years ago, George Sumers (pictured here, circa 1911), a New York investment banker, embarked on his love for fly fishing when he purchased Zero Hour Bomb Company. Zero Hour became Zebco Fishing and the first backlash free spinning reels were created. George Sumers later handed the business to his son in law, Ralph Lafferty Sr. who ran it until the sale to Brunswick Corporation. Ralph "Rick" Lafferty Jr. has continued his father and grandfather's passions with Pagosa Rod and Tackle. Pagosa Rod and Tackle crafts intricate custom fly fishing rods tailored to even the smallest design elements making each fly rod custom and unique! Each Pagosa rod carries the weight of family heritage and the promise of adventures to come – a tangible connection between past, present, and the rivers that await.

At Pagosa Rod and Tackle Company, we specialize in crafting custom fly fishing rods tailored to your unique needs. Our rods are made from high-quality materials like bamboo, graphite, and fiberglass, ensuring an exceptional fishing experience.
